This week freaking dragged! Making the transition from supermodel for a day back to my regular degular life can take a toll on me mentally and spiritually so I've been diving into things I love to bring me back to my happy self. Sharing is caring so here are a few things I've been obsessing over.
It is officially fall and I'm ready to see and wear all the fashions! But one of my favorite trends that thankfully hasn't gone away this fall is pajama-look daywear/eveningwear. I love a matching outfit but make it comfortable and cute with heels and I'm a sucker every time. The correct selection of fabrics makes this trend doable for any season. Kick it up for fall with a metallic belt and match accessories, open up a few buttons for a sexy relaxed fit or add a button up underneath for a more polished look.
Warning: Do not go out in your pajama clothes and get right in the bed when you get home. That's nasty. And be mindful of underwear choice.
Game of Thrones is over for the season, Insecure's over for the season, and Real Housewives of Atlanta doesn't premiere until November. So Netflix binges are an important part of my Sunday evenings. The show that most recently caught my attention is the dramedy Atypical starring Keir Gilchrist and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Gilchrist plays main character Sam Gardner. Sam is an 18 year old high school student managing growing pains and having autism at the same time. He also loves penguins. The show presents the dynamic between Sam and his family but also the rollercoaster of life they're all personally riding on. Atypical provides laughs, gasps and sometimes you'll want to punch someone in the face. All 8 episodes are available for binging exclusively on Netflix.
Reading is fundamental but you should like what book you decide to dive in. I preordered The Autobiography of Gucci Mane so I'd have it the day of it's release. Once I began reading about Gucci's background I couldn't put the book down. I got the same feels as when I first started reading The Coldest Winter Ever by Sistah Souljah. But this is an autobiography. Gucci Mane's experiences with drugs, violence and run-ins read like a movie. I carry this book around with me everywhere and read excerpts to anyone that will listen. The Autobiography of Gucci Mane is available at all bookstores and online.
It wouldn't be Friday without some new music. My current audio obsession is Leikeli47's new album Wash & Set mixes live sounds with house and rap to create an album you can move to from start to finish. The track Attitude premiered on Insecure and is included on the official soundtrack. If Issa likes it then you know it's dope. 12 tracks accompany Attitude on the album but two tracks solidified my obsession. The island-charged Bubblegum is whine worthy and I definitely wouldn't mind hearing it out in the club. Braids tuh'da flo(w) is an anthem for the boss bitches. Leikeli47 raps about different women that have bossed up and it's time to celebrate. I love it so much because it reminds me of my best friends, because regardless of whatever they've been through they haven't skipped a beat on the road of Bad Bitchery. Tracks from Wash & Set definitely made it's way into my Getting Dressed playlist. The confident lyrics remind me of the bad bitch I am and the beats get me off my ass. The album is available on all streaming services and can be purchased on iTunes.
